BIO

Karoline

Karoline works as a freelance musician in Norway and performs regularly with various ensembles including Trondheim Symphony Orchestra, Trondheim Soloists, Telemark Chamber Orchestra and Oslo Strings.

She enjoys performing contemporary repertoire for the viola and experiments with new sounds and the possibilities for using the instrument within electronics and tape. In recent years, improvisation has become a natural part of music making which has led to concerts with Matilda Rolfsson and Kaja Fjellberg Pettersen.

Karoline has performed at festivals such as Bang on a Can in the USA, Modern Academy in Hong Kong and International Ensemble Modern Academy during the Klangspuren Festival in Austria. Karoline had her musical revelation and decided to become a musician during a rehearsal of Tchaikovsky 4th Symphony in the Youth Orchestra in Bergen.

In her spare time she enjoys knitting and writing poetry for children.

Finn Magnus

Finn Magnus has always had the urge to challenge himself and spent three years studying piano transcriptions with focus on Liszt and modern arrangements. As a great believer in sharing his passion for music (and piano transcriptions), Karoline and he created a small chamber group and travelled to some of the remote villages in Norway to perform concerts.

As a soloist he has performed with Ila Brass Band and NTNU Brass Ensemble.

Finn Magnus divides his time between his projects: accompanying, teaching piano at Ole Vig Vgs and Malvik Kulturskole, and as a conductor for Vikhammer & Saksvik School Band.

He is an active chamber musician and a dedicated player on euphonium and baritone in Ila Brass Band. Finn Magnus decided to play the piano because his brother took piano lessons and because the cat enjoyed it. Besides music,

Finn Magnus likes to make furniture out of garbage and drinking coffee.
